The Cornerstone Plan is intended to promote reasonable and responsible growth. It sets forth a proactive approach to guiding growth while respecting the need of residents and existing businesses, and at the same time, addressing the full spectrum of transportation needs. As development and redevelopment take place, the Alameda corridor will need to be able to adapt to meet both immediate and future needs. This Plan takes a comprehensive approach, coordinating the connection between land use and transportation, establishing urban design details such as the relationship between buildings and streets, and identifies strategies to achieve the community's vision for this important corridor.
