The master plan for Biscayne Shores is an antidote to proposals that threaten to construct upon ecologically sensitive wetlands on the western borders of the City of Miami. The design for Biscayne Shores creates a lively urban street wall on the southern edge of Biscayne Shores Park that takes its inspiration from urban parks such as Central Park and Hyde Park. As an infill project, it is also is in spirit with Eastward Ho! and the transformation of Biscayne Boulevard into a mixed-use, transit-ready street that runs parallel to the edge of Biscayne Bay. Residents of surrounding neighborhoods, including Biscayne Park, Biscayne Shores, and Miami Shores Village, participated in the charrette. The resulting plan accommodates high-rise residential buildings closer to Biscayne Boulevard, a Main Street, a site for a school, and lower scaled apartments and rowhouses which relate to the scale of the neighborhoods to the west.
